A very serious accident between two cars and a heavy goods vehicle occurred around 5:30 p.m., this Friday, December 20, on the RD940, between Gien and Argent-sur-Sauldre (Cher), near Coullons.
We still do not know the circumstances and in particular the direction of vehicle traffic, but the human toll shows five victims. A 21-year-old man, the driver of one of the cars and who was alone on board, died. His blue vehicle, the front of which was pulverized, ended up in the ditch.
Four injured treated
A 29-year-old woman, who was in the truck, was injured and treated in a state of relative emergency. She was transported to Gien hospital.
Three other people were involved in the crash, but were not injured. There was a 40-year-old man there who was also in the heavy goods vehicle. But also another woman aged 29, who was driving the third damaged vehicle.
Finally, an eyewitness to the tragedy, a 49-year-old woman, “shocked” was also taken care of by the firefighters, explained Lieutenant Pointu.
The Gien and Coullons firefighters were involved, i.e. 7 vehicles and 12 firefighters. Also present, the gendarmerie and the Samu.
For several hours, the RD 940 was completely cut off to traffic. A traffic jam of more than a kilometer formed on this departmental road and some had to turn back at the place called Le Gros Chêne, in Coullons, where the accident took place.
