An accident occurred on Friday December 20 on the RD 926, near Planches, in Orne. A 79-year-old driver lost control of her vehicle, requiring significant emergency intervention.
Spectacular road trip
According to Actu.fr, the incident took place around 5:11 p.m., on the old Nationale 26, between Le Merlerault and Sainte-Gauburge. The driver, alone on board and traveling in the direction of Sainte-Gauburge, lost control of her car. His vehicle ended up in a ditch, sliding several dozen meters along a hedge, on the left part of the road.
Rapid emergency intervention
Nine firefighters from the centers of Sainte-Gauburge, Le Merlerault, Gacé and Courtomer were mobilized to assist the victim. The road emergency vehicle as well as a rural tanker truck were deployed on site. The driver, slightly injured but trapped in the passenger compartment, required an extrication operation.
Transfer to L’Aigle hospital
After being extracted from her vehicle, the septuagenarian was transported to the L'Aigle hospital center for additional examinations, despite injuries initially considered minor.
Traffic disrupted
As the accident occurred late in the day, traffic was heavy. The gendarmes from Gacé, assisted by their colleagues from Argentan, were responsible for regulating traffic during the rescue operations. The intervention lasted more than two hours before a return to normal on this busy route.
