Ukraine will interrupt the transit of Russian gas on 1is January 2025
Ukraine will interrupt the transit of Russian gas through its territory from 1is January 2025, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported on Friday, December 20, citing Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

“At 7:00 a.m. (5h00 GMT), transit will be physically blocked”declared Mr. Shmyhal in Parliament.
The resumption of gas transit will only be possible at the request of the European Commission and only on the condition that Ukraine transports non-Russian gas, he added.
At the same time, Mr. Shmyhal noted that Ukraine remains obliged to continue the transit of Russian oil under the Association Agreement with the European Union (EU) and the Treaty on the Charter of the energy.
Ukraine was previously a key transit route for Russian gas deliveries to Europe.
On Thursday, December 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that kyiv will not extend its five-year gas transport agreement with Russia, which expires at the end of 2024.
