The RMC journalist, Fred Hermeldiscussed the areas for progression of the former Girondins de midfielder, Aurélien Tchouaméni.

“He still talks a lot about his offensive side, he wants to score goals and make assists. Afterwards, he wants that, he would like to project himself a little further forward. But I have the impression that at Real, he is mainly asked to recover balls […] For me it’s very clear, it’s the concentration when he plays in midfield. But it’s so obvious, in fact… Not to lose so many balls, not to play easy, to ensure more passes, to know how to give the ball before losing it. I have the impression that at times he tries to progress a little, to keep the ball a little too much, whereas as soon as he gets the ball back I think he should be more involved in passing than he does, and try to be less playful. It’s hard to say that to a footballer, but I think that’s where he can improve.”

Is Aurélien Tchouaméni cut out for Real Madrid?

“(silence) I’m still waiting to see. We are here to tell each other the truth. I have nothing against him either, who is an intelligent boy, who fits in well, etc… I know that his dad is a listener of RMC and that he will listen to us. I’m waiting to see him one day be the best on the team. In a big match, say ‘wah’. In a big Champions League match, say to yourself ‘the boss in midfield was Tchouaméni, Hermel shut up’. I’m waiting for that match.”
