During the holiday season, menus change to make room for foods that we rarely eat on a daily basis. Between foie gras, oysters and other savory but also sweet pleasures, some parents wonder about what they can (or not) give their children to eat.
To see more clearly, Femme Actuelle interviewed Justine Marie, pediatric dietician and founder of “Manger & Grandir”, (@mangeretgrandir on Instagram) which offers parents online consultations “to support and answer parents’ questions about nutrition of their babies and children”.
When developing the menu for the end of year celebrations, many constraints are added when it comes to preparing the dishes to prepare. Between food allergies and individual habits, we must not forget that certain foods should not be served at all ages.
Indeed, certain foods can present risks to the health of young people. This is the case for raw seafood, raw fish and smoked fish, which present a risk of contamination with salmonella and listeria, and which can therefore be dangerous for the health of young people. “Before 5 years, we are in a population at risk, the consequences can be disastrous for the health of children,” explains Justine Marie.
