It is undeniable that Achraf Hakimi is PSG’s best player this season. Every time he plays, the right-back shows performances, whether with the capital club or with the Moroccan selection, of which he is captain.
Having achieved a remarkable season during the 2023-2024 financial year, he has reached very high levels for this 2024-25 season.
Results which let us be clear have not been overlooked as he was selected among the five finalists for the 2024 African Ballon d’Or.
The PSG right-back was present during the ceremony which took place last night in Morocco. Achraf Hakimi, announced as one of the favorites for this distinction, unfortunately did not win this distinction.
The trophy for best African player of the year 2024 was awarded to Ademola Lookman, the Nigerian attacking midfielder from Atalanta Bergamo.
Achraf Hakimi obtained third place in the votes behind Lookman and Serhou Guirassy.
He succeeds his compatriot Victor Osimhen, who was a great player with Nigeria and the Italian club, notably with his hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen.
In addition to the Borussia Dortmund striker and PSG number 2, Lookman was competing with Ronwen Williams (goalkeeper, South Africa/Mamelodi Sundowns), Simon Adingra (forward, Ivory Coast/Brighton & Hove Albion ) to raise this prestigious award.
It is obvious that Achraf Hakimi is part of the eleven of the year announced during this ceremony.
