2.000 MTO

The French Ministry of the Armed Forces announced last March the order for 2,000 remotely operated munitions (MTO) of French design, including the first 100 urgently for Ukraine.

“Kamikaze drones are absolutely fundamental in the conduct of operations” and will be able to constitute a “complement to the Caesar cannon in terms of artillery”, argued Sébastien Lecornu.

According to the minister, these first investments in MTOs “are part of an important catch-up effort for our armies” while France is lagging behind in the development of drones, massively used both by the army of kyiv and that of Moscow on the Ukrainian front.

The first 100 drones intended for kyiv were to be ordered from a consortium bringing together the drone manufacturer Delair and the manufacturer Nexter for delivery initially scheduled for last summer.
