Two months adrift. A man was found alive this Monday, October 14, in the waters of the Sea of ​​Okhotsk, in the Russian Far East. He was accompanied by two companions in misfortune, who unfortunately died, the Regional Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release on Tuesday. The three individuals went sailing in August aboard a catamaran.

In a video released by the prosecution, we see a bearded man in an orange life jacket, in the middle of the night, wrapping himself in a blanket on a small boat, waiting for rescuers to approach.

According to initial information, “on August 9, 2024, two men and a 15-year-old teenager, the son of one of them, left on a catamaran boat” from a cape in the Khabarovsk region in the direction of the Sakhalin region, explains the press release. Shortly after, contact was lost, according to the same source.

It was only on October 14 that the boat was found in the waters of the Sea of ​​Okhotsk, near a village in the Kamchatka region. Medical assistance was provided to the survivor, the statement said. An investigation was opened for violation of maritime transport operating rules which recklessly led to the death of two people, added the regional prosecutor’s office.
