Just a few days after its repair and return to service, the Royal Air Maroc (RAM) plane, which had a spectacular excursion off the runway last August, experienced a new incident. He turned back, a few minutes after taking off, this Sunday, October 13.

On August 17, a Boeing 737-800 of the airline Royal Air Maroc, registered CN-RGW, made a spectacular excursion off the runway after an eventful landing at Monrovia airport, Liberia.

Nearly 2 months after leaving the runway, the plane cancels a takeoff in Casablanca

The plane was on a flight from Casablanca airport. After landing on runway 04 of the airport in the capital of Liberia, it turned left, beyond the edge of the runway, before returning to the runway centerline.

The incident fortunately did not cause any casualties, but the aircraft suffered significant damage to its fuselage, near the landing gear. The incident is believed to be linked to bad weather conditions at the time of landing.

Images taken after the incident clearly demonstrate the extent of the damage and that the plane had actually rolled some distance off the runway, onto the tarmac lawn at Monrovia airport.

Nearly two months after this spectacular incident, this same plane experienced another incident this Sunday, October 13, while it was taking off from Casablanca Mohammed V airport for a flight to Frankfurt, Germany.

Boeing 737-800 turns around 10 minutes after takeoff

A few minutes after its departure, the Boeing 737-800, registered CN-RGW of Royal Air Maroc, turned around and landed urgently at the same airport, reports the specialized site Moroccan Aviation.

This takeoff interruption is surely due to a technical problem spotted by the crew on the plane.

Data viewed on flight tracking site Flight Aware confirms that the plane did indeed turn around a few minutes after takeoff. The Boeing in fact began its loop after only ten minutes of its departure, near the Moroccan coast.

He made an emergency landing at Casablanca airport 18 minutes after takeoff. The reason for this emergency landing has not been communicated at this time, underlines the same source, recalling that it is the plane which left the runway in Liberia.

Following the incident in Liberia, which dates back almost two months, “ the aircraft had undergone a number of repairs to its fuselage, including the insertion of a new part on the fuselage near the wing », specifies Moroccan Aviation.
