Vanessa Paradis’ husband makes an unexpected announcement

Samuel Benchetrit has just made an unexpected announcement. Interviewed in “La Tribune du dimanche” about the play La Famille, the filmmaker and husband of Vanessa Paradis indicated that his life would take a new turn very soon… for a good cause!

At 51, Samuel Benchetrit has become a recognized figure in French cinema. Janis and John (2003) or again Asphalt (2015) allowed him to gain the approval of his peers. In 2024, Vanessa Paradis’ husband chose to get involved in the theater. His play La Famille features a five-star cast including Claire Nadeau, Michel Jonasz and Patrick Timsit.

But this long litany of successes is not enough to satisfy the director’s insatiable appetite. Samuel Benchetrit has another, much more ambitious idea in mind. The novelist also dreams of being able to make a film… in the United States. Don’t see this as the whim of a fifty-something in need of emotion: this desire dates back to the beginning of his career.

The least we can say is that Samuel Benchetrit makes our mouths water by recounting his project in the columns of The Sunday Tribune from this September 8th. His new cinematographic work will be “an American film in its actors but European in its design“.

What will he tell? “It will be a crossing of the United States which speaks of a state of the world“he explains. But we shouldn’t expect to see this new feature film directly in theaters. We’ll have to wait at least three years, he warns…
