A ten-year-old boy was allegedly the victim of an attempted kidnapping on Wednesday evening on Davidson Street West in Gatineau.
The parents of the child explain that the latter was going to join his friend by bicycle in the rue Desforges very close to their home. That’s when a man on a dirt bike allegedly asked her to ride with him.
The kid would have run away at full speed by bike to his friend. As for the man, he would have got off his motorbike and would have gone to run after the child.
The boy managed to take refuge with his friend. His family is still in shock.
“We are completely distraught. […] We let him ride his bike with his friends, go to the park and all that. We thought it was a quiet neighborhood. The little one arrived, he was in tears,” says the child’s mother, Nadia Pellerin.
Gatineau police say they have opened an investigation. She specifies that she has not received any other calls for similar events. So that would be an isolated case.
“There is nothing that is taken lightly by the police service and all matters given to us will be investigated. What is reassuring is that this is an event that seems isolated since there have been no other calls of this type, “says Patrick Kenney, spokesperson for the Service. of the City of Gatineau police.
