The latter, from different towns in the kingdom (Fez, Oujda, Taza, Taounate, Zaïo, Touil, Jerada, Taourirt, Rabat, Kalaa, Midelt, Béni Mellal, Tétouan and Guercif), were arrested while trying to reach Europe via the Maghnia-Oujda land passage.

The Moroccan Association for Aid to Migrants in Difficult Situations in Oujda revealed that these young people had served prison sentences for “illegal immigration” before being placed in administrative detention for several months. Some of them reportedly spent more than five months in this situation.
-If this release is a relief for the families concerned, the association recalls that many young Moroccans are still awaiting deportation. She also calls on the Algerian authorities to shed light on the fate of several missing people, including Algerian families, and to return the bodies of six deceased people, including two young girls from eastern Morocco.
