Once the surprise has passed, the Center party is gradually regaining its senses. After the series of withdrawals of potential favorites in the Federal Council (Isabelle Chassot, Gerhard Pfister, Benedikt Würth, Martin Candinas), new papables appear in the discussions. There should normally be enough valid candidates to seek the succession of resigning minister Viola Amherd.
