The evil uncle Donald against the nice papa Legault

With his incredible instinct for political survival, our Prime Minister of Quebec, François Legault, who seemed condemned to shipwreck with his CAQ that the rats have already started to flee, has just found a possible lifeline: the Trump crisis.

You will tell me that François Legault is lucky in the misfortune of Quebec which suffers from two climates: the weather which is breaking cold records and the explosive political climate which threatens to set everything on fire.

Concern about the economic threats from our southern neighbors, threats which will most likely be carried out by the man who never smiles, allows our skillful politician to play the role he so loved during the crisis of COVID-19: that of the reassuring father.

Resurrection

The tired and hesitant Legault of recent years suddenly finds the makings of the head of state.

We rediscover the tone he had during his COVID-19 honeymoon when all of Quebec tuned in at 1 p.m. to listen to him speak.

Have you heard him repeat that he will protect Quebecers “at all costs” during the crisis?

A little more and we came up with the slogan: “It’s going to be fine”!

One thing is certain: on the Parti Québécois side, we must be worried that the Trump crisis could reinflate the flat tires of the CAQ tank.

The good chef

In addition to Canada which is drowning it demographically, Quebec will now have to deal with another hostile entity which will encourage companies to move to avoid tariffs.

Paul St-Pierre-Plamondon is calling for a Team Quebec and a plan… but it’s abstract, a plan!

Politically, to stand up to Trump, you need someone, a person, a face… and this is what Legault will try to embody: the good, calming leader.

It will be up to Paul St-Pierre-Plamondon to push Legault so that he shows himself to be as nationalist as possible.
