We will gradually inform you of the expected developments as well as the measures coming into force this monthwhether on the plan economic-socialof the circulationof the transports, energy or even ecological. Here's what changes in February 2025 :

Electricity

A decree published in the Official Journal on December 28 confirms the end of the electricity tariff shield. This was introduced in order to protect consumers from the surge in electricity prices from 2022. This measure thus made it possible to limit the increase in prices to 4% including tax for customers eligible for the regulated electricity price tariff. electricity and 15% including tax on average from February 1, 2023.From February 1, 2025, the excise on electricity, formerly called TICFE (domestic tax on final electricity consumption), will be restored to its level before the 2022 energy crisis“, announces the site vie-publique.fr.

However, we have good news. Because, despite the end of the price shield on electricity and this announced increase in taxes, the regulated electricity price for individuals will fall by 15% on average. The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) therefore proposed to restore the regulated electricity sale prices to €239 including tax/MWh on February 1, 2025. Since February 1, 2024, these amounted on average at €281 including tax/MWh. This is therefore a reduction of €42 including tax/MWh on average.

The reason for this decrease? “The drop in the supply share due to sharply declining market prices, linked to a gradual return to normal after the energy price crisis” indicates the CRE, which also mentions the increase in network prices exceptionally advanced to February 1, 2025 as well as the increase in taxes decided by the State.

Savings

As of February 1, 2025, the annual interest rate for Livret A will go down. Bad news for savers holding Livret A. Fixed at 3% since February 1, 2023, the Livret A rate will be 2.4% on February 1, 2025. Same thing for that of Popular savings account (LEP), reserved for modest savers, which will increase to 3.5%, compared to 4% between August 1, 2024 and January 31, 2025. The reason? The decline in inflation.

Tolls

Changes are also planned for motorists. THE highway toll rates will evolve and increase from February 1, 2025. This will be an increase of 0.92% on average. “This change is the weakest since 2021 and significantly lower than inflation excluding tobacco during the reference period concerned (October 2023 to October 2024) which is 1.1%” specifies the Ministry of Transport. According to Auto Plus, this increase in prices will be 0.77% for VINCI Autoroutes, 0.85% for SANEF, 1.08% for APRR, 1.10% for AREA and 1.14% for SAPN.

Tobacco

After a further increase on January 1, 2025, the price of certain cigarettes in France will increase again on February 1, 2025, according to a decree published in the Official Journal on January 14. The customs website details these different increases depending on the brand. The price of a pack of Gauloises Blondes Bleu (20 cigarettes) will, for example, increase from €12.30 to €12.50, an increase of 20 cents.

Objective for the government? Continue to fight against smoking. In its national anti-tobacco program, the State intends to increase the price of tobacco with a pack sold at 13 euros in 2027.
