A 47-year-old man was stabbed to death this Tuesday, in the Bréquigny district, south of Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine). The facts occurred around 6:15 p.m., Cours d'Helsinki, near the Henri-Fréville metro station, we learned News17. The victim received several stab wounds to the abdomen.
It was a passerby who alerted the emergency services after seeing the injured man. Firefighters and SAMU doctors intervened quickly, while police officers set up a perimeter to secure the area.
The victim was in cardiorespiratory arrest at the time of his treatment. The emergency services tried to resuscitate her on site for around thirty minutes before transporting her, under police escort, to the Pontchaillou university hospital center (CHU). The victim died shortly after being admitted to the emergency room.
-According to initial findings, the man received three stab wounds to the abdomen. Investigators from the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS) and forensic police technicians carried out their first investigations on site, in this plot surrounded by buildings. The circumstances and motivations for this act remain to be determined. A murder investigation has been opened.
Third stabbing murder in 2025
This is the third stabbing murder in Rennes since the start of the year. On January 2, a 22-year-old man lost his life after being stabbed in the Square de Slovakie, in the Blosne district. A few days later, on January 11, a forty-year-old man was found dead at his home in the Eastern cemetery district, also the victim of several stab wounds.
