SENEGAL-EDUCATION-INFRASTRUCTURES / Bambey: the municipality rehabilitates six classrooms at the Cheikh Awa Balla Mbacké school – Senegalese press agency

Bambey, January 21 (APS) – The town hall of Bambey (center) received, on Tuesday, at the Cheikh Awa Balla Mbacké elementary school, six rehabilitated classrooms at an estimated cost of more than thirty million CFA francs.

“It is a project that the municipality had included in its 2023 budget consisting of rehabilitating the main building of the Cheikh Awa Balla Mbacké school which houses six classrooms,” explained the mayor of Bambey, Assane Dia.

According to him, the building in question was in a very advanced state of disrepair, endangering the safety of students and teachers.

“The rehabilitation of its classrooms is the symbol of our commitment to quality education in a secure school environment within an overall framework of development of our municipality,” said the mayor of Bambey.

Assane Dia recalled that education, which is a transferred skill, occupies a primordial place in the priorities of Bambey town hall.

“This school, where I did my primary school, is a heritage of Bambey and of the entire educational community. It was built in 1949. It was time to rehabilitate it,” declared the director of the Sheikh Awa Balla Mbacké school, Modou Ala Seck.

“This day is historic and it is an opportunity for me and all the teachers at the Cheikh Awa Balla Mbacké school to thank the mayor of the commune of Bambey for the rehabilitation of the main building of the school which houses more six classrooms as well as the principal’s office,” he added.

The general secretary of the Bambey education and training inspectorate, Mama Moussa Sy, for her part praised the responsiveness of the municipal council in the face of the very advanced state of disrepair of the building. He indicated that the reception of his six classrooms is “a real sigh of relief for those involved in the education system in the department of Bambey”.

He invited the school principal and all teachers to maintain the infrastructure for its sustainability in the service of education.
