BA'Connect reconnects to reality

Since 2023, the Bois l'abbess association has developed a computer equipment reuse and resale workshop, BA'Connect. Its objective is to recover old computer equipment to put it back into operation and resell it at low prices to individuals, communities and businesses. “No structure in the North Haut-Marne territory offered digital re-employment through professional reintegration”recalls Hugo Collet, head of the Bois l’abbess information system.“In the first half of 2023, premises were renovated. They include three rooms, one of which is specific to putting computers back into operation.”explains Thomas Comptader, deputy general director of the association.

Call for donations

The BA'Connect brand has been registered with the National Institute of Industrial Property for maximum visibility and to protect the workshop's activities. “In June 2023, we started receiving our first donations”. Donations from communities such as the agglomeration, the Departmental Energy & Waste Union, the Family and Rural House of Commercy, Estic, the Dervoise Association for Social and Medico-Social Action, companies including IT solutions and recycling centers like that of Eurville-Bienville.

A supervisor was recruited more than a year ago, with two or three employees in professional integration or disabled situations under his responsibility. Once refurbished, computers can be purchased by communities at capped prices and at higher prices for individuals depending on the model, in order to make the sector profitable.“Individuals, communities or businesses can contact us via the association’s website for any order.”. Soon, a withdrawal system will be put in place. The BA'Connect team is calling on donors of obsolete equipment. In the coming months, the hiring of new employees is planned if the workshop's activity develops.
