Drivers, who use this road every day, must now organize themselves. Indeed, the Grande rue, which connects Villabé to the Moulin Galant district in Corbeil-Essonnes, has been closed to traffic since Monday, January 20 until the end of 2025.
The bridge will be “completely rebuilt”
This closure was announced by Bruno Piriou, the mayor of Corbeil-Essonnes, and Karl Dirat, the mayor of Villabé, in a video published on the Corbeil-Essonnes YouTube channel on January 17. In the latter, the two elected officials explain that this closure is caused by “dangerousness” from one of the bridges on the Grande Rue.
“We are going to renovate the bridge which is aging. For this, we have decided to close the bridge this Monday, six months before the renovation work which will begin in May. We will completely rebuild this bridge which is dangerous,” explains Karl Dirat.
During the works, only pedestrians and cyclists will be able to travel on a bridge built for the occasion. Motorists will have to take a bypass which will be signposted near La Papeterie.
-Work worth more than a million euros
Renovation work amounting to €1,120,000, equally financed by the Greater Paris Sud Agglomeration and the city of Corbeil-Essonnes, should last between six to eight months.
Their objective will be to increase the bearing capacity of the bridge which is currently limited. Sidewalks will also be created to allow pedestrians to circulate safely. Ultimately, this work should improve traffic conditions and the comfort of motorists.
Note that a bridge, located in the same sector, has already been the subject of work renovation between 2023 and 2024.
