-While the Pôle pénitentiaire du Nord Vaudois (PPNV) will double its detention capacity to reach around 1000 places by 2030, the Chemin des Pâquerets which leads there will see its attendance increase from 1000 to 2500 vehicles/day. As it does not allow the crossing of heavy and agricultural vehicles, it must be redeveloped and equipped with a sidewalk.
The Orbe Municipal Council will soon have to approve the operation via urgent notice. According to an agreement approved by the Grand Councilthe work estimated at 1.5 million francs will be the responsibility of the Canton. They will be undertaken no earlier than fall 2026.
This municipal access will be widened from 4.20 to 9 meters over a portion of 520 meters, from the roundabout and to the future forward control post. Rights-of-way will be necessary, most of them on State plots allocated to the forest zone in the north, and compensated for on an urban plot.
