The Metropolis draws positive results from its emergency housing plan

Philippe Layec, Anne Warsmann, Bruno Bernard, Barbara Falk, and Renaud Payre (SdH/LPI)

This plan launched in September 2023, which aimed to support a certain number of overdue operations, enabled the support of 118 operations and the unblocking of 7,000 homes.

The Metropolis provided an update on its emergency housing plan this Monday. Bruno Bernard, president of the Métropole de Lyon, and Renaud Payre, vice-president of the Métropole de Lyon in charge of housing, were thus able to present the results of this plan launched in September 2023, in the presence of Philippe Layec, president of the federation of real estate developers (FPI) Lyon region, Anne Warsmann, president of ABC HLM and Barbara Falk, regional director of the Banque des Territoires.

Renaud Payre recalled the scale of the housing crisis taking place in and the region.

“The crisis is of unparalleled severity for years and decades since 2017, there has been a slowdown in production, and there has been a slowdown in supply. And from 2022, this phenomenon has collided with another phenomenon, which is the crisis of demand, with interest rates, housing costs, a drop in household purchasing power. We found ourselves in this situation, and all tense territories are experiencing this crisis head-on (…). This means that our mandate roadmap has been modified since we have moved into 'crisis management' mode.”
