Towers. 5th edition of Citizen Plantations: here’s how to participate

Since 2021, this event – ​​in addition to daily plantings – has already made it possible to plant more than 40,000 trees and shrubs throughout the municipal territory. The City of (Indre-et-) is launching the 5th edition of Citizen Plantations on February 5.

During this friendly morning, residents of Tourangelles will be able to interact with municipal gardeners and discover their work in the field, while acting for the environment. A great opportunity to get some fresh air, while taking concrete actions for urban biodiversity and adaptation to climate change.

The locations chosen for the 2025 Citizen Plantations

This year, eight emblematic sites of the city will benefit from these plantations. The projects include the creation of open-access orchards, the restoration of historic groves, as well as hedges and green spaces favorable to wildlife.

Details of locations and quantity of plants to plant:

  • Cousinerie Park (Clarté Dieu) – Creation of a hedgerow: 16 trees and 940 shrubs
  • Avenue Marc-Chagall – Creation of an orchard: 14 trees and 98 shrubs
  • François 1st Garden (CCCOD) – Creation of an orchard: 12 trees
  • Rue Dabilly – Mini-forest (2nd part): 95 trees and 70 shrubs
  • Jardin des Prébendes – Restoration of the redwood grove and the banana tree massif: 5 trees and 60 shrubs
  • Conservatory School (rue Jules-Simon) – Creation of a rural hedge: 7 trees and 130 shrubs
  • Pont de Vendée dyke – Creation of an orchard: 52 trees and 120 shrubs
  • Allée Surcouf/rue Saint-Paul – Creation of an orchard: 29 trees and 110 shrubs.

How to participate?

All citizens available on Wednesday, February 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. are invited to register.

To choose one of the eight sites offered, simply register now via this link (be careful, places go quickly): https://www.tours.fr/evenements/plantations-citoyennes-2025/ (the form is available until February 3, 2025).

In total, there are 1,758 plants, including 230 trees and 1,528 shrubs.which will be planted this year. These young plants, chosen for their ability to adapt to climate change, will grow to become the pillars of tomorrow's tree heritage.
