Ouarzazate: 120 million dirhams to strengthen the supply of drinking water

The start of work to strengthen the drinking water supply network was given on Saturday, for the benefit of several municipalities located on the Ouarzazate-Sekoura axis from the hydraulic installations of the city of Ouarzazate.

This project, whose work will be completed next September, required a total cost of 120 million dirhams, including a contribution of 90 million dirhams provided by the Ministry of the Interior.

In a statement to MAP, the general director of the Ouarzazate Aménagement Company, Brahim Hammou Aouja, indicated that this project equipped with modern equipment targets around 90,000 inhabitants, including 45,000 new beneficiaries, located on the Ouarzazate-Sekoura axis.

The project, he explained, consists in particular of the construction of a 30 km water pipe for the supply of drinking water, the establishment of a pumping station with a reservoir of 500 m3 and the construction of a storage tank with a capacity of 1,500 m3.

The project will allow the improvement of water supply, the optimal management of demand and the economy and valorization of this vital resource, he said.

The launch of work on this project was given by the governor of the province of Ouarzazate, Abdellah Jahid, who was accompanied by elected officials, heads of external services and representatives of the Ouarzazate Aménagement Company.
