Joé Bédier: “These are young unaccompanied minors who are causing disorder in Island. Not all Mahorais are bad »

The mayor of Saint-André, Joé Bédier was the guest of the 7 p.m. news this Sunday, January 19 on Antenne Réunion. He returned to the problem of violence, particularly in the Fayard district.

“We have done prevention and it is bearing fruit, but we must not make amalgamation. We must not globalize and say that all Mahorais are bad guys. There are Mahorais families who raise their children well. We really need to distinguish this category of isolated minors who are delivered to ethemselves and who grow up in violence. Today in , they are the ones who are sowing disorder and that is unacceptable. We have always been an island that accepts others. Today, we understood that they came here to disturb us. They have neither father nor mother. We can't grow up like that.”says Joé Bédier.

As a reminder, a curfew for minors under 16 has been in place since this Sunday evening in the Fayard district for a period of one month.
