Aimee Cutrona succeeds Puneet Talwar

Aimee Cutrona, a career member of the United States Senior Diplomatic Service, took office on Sunday, January 19, as Chargé d’affaires at the United States Embassy in Morocco, succeeding Ambassador Puneet Talwar, whose mandate ended on January 19 after more than two years of service to the Kingdom.

According to a note published on the official website of the United States Embassy in Morocco, Cutrona previously held the position of Deputy Chief of Mission in Rabat, a position she has held since July 2022. Prior to her assignment to Morocco, she served in Washington, DC, as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Levantine Affairs, as well as as Director of the Office of Levantine Affairs at the Department of State.

She also served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the United States Embassy in Bahrain between 2016 and 2019. Since joining the Foreign Service in 1999, she has served in various capacities in Addis Ababa, El Salvador, Qatar, Egypt, as well as several offices in Washington. A graduate of Smith College, Aimee Cutrona also holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Conflict Management from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

The United States and Morocco have a long-standing, historic and rich partnership, established since 1777. Today, this cooperation extends to many areas of mutual interest, including regional security, economic prosperity and joint initiatives aimed at meeting development challenges.
