LFI announces the defeat of its candidate Lyes Louffok

This Sunday marked the second round of partial legislative elections opposing Lyes Louffok, the candidate of the New Popular Front (NFP) to the Macronist candidate Camille Galliard-Minier.

In the evening, La insoumise (LFI) announced the defeat of the 30-year-old child rights activist.

“A context of strong abstention”

“NFP candidate Lyes Louffok was unable to be elected deputy. The cause of childhood will not have, in the National Assembly, this effective and tenacious spokesperson […] In a context of strong abstention, a constituency wrested from the right in 2024 by popular mobilization has therefore returned to its traditional representation,” writes LFI in a press release.

The vote was to elect a replacement for outgoing LFI deputy Hugo Prevost, who resigned in October after accusations of sexist and sexual violence.
