The Pontorson Sports Union (Manche), the football club of this neighboring town of Mont Saint-Michel, in Normandy, organized the fifth edition of its take-away sauerkraut, on November 23, 2024.
As is now a tradition, one euro from each share sold is donated to a local association.
After donations to Small steps like big ones for Camille, to the Telethon, to Pink October, France Alzheimer had received a check worth €1,300 in 2023, it was the Pontorson Fire Brigade Association which was retained in 2024.
A nod to Loïc Lenoir
Due to the death of Loïc Lenoir, a volunteer firefighter in Pontorson, in exceptional circumstances, the Firefighters' Association was condemned this year by the footballers.
“It’s a nod to Loïc Lenoir, whom we all knew,” says Mickaël Montalent, the president of US Pontorson.
-As 922 portions of this Alsatian specialty were sold, a check for 922 euros was given on Tuesday January 14 to the firefighters, gathered in their barracks.
This year, this generous initiative will be renewed. The date and the association receiving the donation have not yet been determined. Before that, the players will meet for their tournaments on May 24 and June 13 and 14, 2025.
