Sunday January 12, 2025, the wishes of the municipal team of the commune of Aucey-la-Plaine, near Pontorson, in the bay of Mont Saint-Michel, were an opportunity to take stock of the achievements and projects , in a moment of conviviality.

At 11 a.m., residents converge on the village hall, next to the church. It's already quite full. “It’s always like that,” happily greets Alain Bodin, the mayor since 2020 of this town of 413 inhabitants, which recorded six births and six deaths in 2024 and two marriages. Surrounded by his municipal council, the elected official welcomes the audience with wishes and a thought for the deceased.

Projects subject to budgetary reservation

The mayor did not fail to mention the dissolution of the National Assembly and the absence of a national budget, which burdens the municipal budget and aid for future projects.

We have seven homes in the town, one remains to be renovated.

The project was estimated at 200,000 euros, the roof of this apartment above the town hall must be redone. “There will already be 50,000 euros worth, but it will also be used for the town hall.”

The previous tenant had occupied the premises for 27 years. “The insulation will be redone, this will reduce the space to around 85 m2. We called on an architect in November. We chose the least expensive. The estimate will be made this month to make requests for subsidies from state services.”

As part of the work, the accessibility of public toilets and the village hall will be reviewed, and a new columbarium should be installed at the cemetery.

As for services to the population, optical fiber should be in service at the end of the first semester, a caterer will offer its services and on Saturday evenings, from the start of the year, the Jo Pizza truck will set up at Place de l'Eglise .

The restored church bell tower

Before presenting the projects planned for 2025, he looks back at the achievements that marked 2024. The most important was the restoration of the church bell tower. Water infiltration threatened the collapse of the bell weighing around 650 kg. 80,000 euros were invested in the restoration of the campanile, with 60% of subsidies coming from the urban community, the Heritage Fund and the State Grant for Rural Territories. We will also remember the gilding of the names inscribed on the war memorial, which time had gradually erased.

The memory of resistance fighter Fernand Davy honored

Last June, a dead end between rue Gibonnière and rue de la Guinguetterie was named rue Fernand Davy. The municipality took the opportunity of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings to pay tribute to this local resistance fighter, arrested at his parents' home and deported to Germany. Died in 2013, this tribute was paid to him in complete privacy, in the presence of his children.
