He strikes with his brushes like a knight shakes his opponent with his sword. Louis Desmurs is an original and even unclassifiable painter. His works which adorn the walls of the upper gallery of the Embarcadère of Montceau-les-Mines, bear the stigmata.
It is difficult to remain indifferent to the paintings but it is also difficult to understand their meaning, literally and figuratively. He paints like an orchestra conductor, with touch and sensitivity in an ordered imbalance. The music guides his gesture, the color interprets the nuances.
Josiane Buchalik, cultural heritage delegate, is always ready to sign the portrait of the artist invited to Montceau, thanks to the discovery of Michel Dufour, another renowned painter in the region. It is therefore complicated to define the painting of Louis Desmurs who sees Picasso as the absolute master. A path to follow.
Louis Desmurs, at 86 years old, is not very talkative in society. It is at home that he finds inspiration without having to travel the globe. He took refuge first in Cluny then in Charolles, in his beautiful house and a beautiful workshop sheltered from the clamor of the world. Moreover, on Saturday evening, at the opening, it was his wife who spoke. “My husband masters lines and colors better than words,” she says. He is nevertheless captivated to see his paintings from the last 25 years showcased in such a beautiful exhibition room.
Color is essential for Louis Desmurs. “His painting notes a form of impatience in the gesture” explains Madame. “Everything is not always logical, you have to let yourself be caught up in pure pleasure and follow your emotions.”
The strength of his line reflects the strength of his talent.
