Change between Belgica and Simonis: new cycle paths will be created on rue Serkeyn, many parking spaces removed

There will be changes along the railway line in the northwest of Brussels, between Belgica and Simonis. The permit for the redevelopment of Serkeyn, Gisèle Halimi and Gemba streets has been issued.

“The project aims to give more space to cyclists, pedestrians and people with reduced mobility. Serkeyn Street will be almost completely redone. Gisèle Halimi and Gemba streets become cycle zones“, informs Beliris, the federal body responsible for this matter.”Currently, more than 60% of this public space is reserved for cars. This percentage will be reduced to 20% with the provision of separate cycle paths, more space for pedestrians and children playing and green spaces. Fun and sporting elements will also be integrated.”
