Geneva: Accused of being a spy, he leaves prison after six months

New twist in a espionage case in Switzerland. A Canadian living in Geneva was recently released after spending six months in prison. The fifty-year-old, a former UN collaborator, is suspected of having provided information to China, via his relationship with a Chinese diplomat, identified as a spy. After long surveillance, this North Korea specialist was arrested in March 2024 and spent several months in preventive detention. According to the “Tribune de Genève”, he has just been released. The secret surveillance measures put in place to track down this foreign national were recently the subject of a judgment. The Federal Criminal Court found that this special provision was justified.
