The Carrefour hypermarkets in L'Isle-d'Abeau and Salaise-sur-Sanne in Isère could well leave the group. This was announced by several unions on Friday January 10.
“Avoid the closure of hypermarkets in difficulty”
Concretely, 39 stores throughout France will change status and move to rental management or will be sold to franchisees.
Concerning the two Isère hypermarkets, the communication from the Carrefour group confirms news Grenoble that they “are concerned by a project of transition to rental management”. The group claims to make this choice to “avoid the closure of hypermarkets in difficulty”.
The unions are up in arms
For unions, the announcement is far from good news. “Having spoken with the employees, they are shocked, angry and afraid of the future,” summarizes Yann Colliat, CFDT general secretary of Isère services, to our editorial staff. They have a feeling of abandonment. Psychologically, it's very hard. »
-In Isère, other Carrefour stores went into lease management a few years ago, such as in Échirolles or Ruy-Montceau. “It was socially catastrophic for employees”, with salary cuts or departures not replaced, according to the CFDT.
“Nothing is excluded”
The details of the change in status of the L'Isle-d'Abeau and Salaise-sur-Sanne hypermarkets remain vague for the moment. “We know that they are moving into rental management, but we don’t know when and who will take over. »
No strikes are currently planned. “For now, we are digesting the news. But for the CFDT, nothing is excluded, warns Yann Colliat. We remain vigilant, we stand alongside the employees. We won't let them go. »
