The exemplary mobilization of the Marie-Curie hotel school for the Mayotte archipelago

I felt immense sadness alone in the CDI. A shock when I heard the news of the hurricane”, says Émilie Roche, teacher at the documentation and information center at the Marie-Curie hotel high school. Before joining the Saint-Jean teaching team, the young woman worked for seven years at the Sada high school in Mayotte.

When Frédéric Rame, cooking teacher, offered to organize a dinner in support of the Mahorese population, Émilie Roche supported the project 100%. Like the chefs that Frédéric Rame contacted via the aux chefs association, of which he is an active member.

There are five of them who responded: three starred displaying a macaron with Guide Michelin, Maxime Chenet, Matthieu Hervé and Sébastien Rath, two women, Élisa Causse, Best apprentice in in 2021, and Diane Jardin. Monday January 20, they will share their know-how with the students who will assist them in preparing the dinner for the pleasure of the guests who register for the meal (€45).

Danièle Viala, the principal, welcomes the initiative: “ It’s a great solidarity project. Paying the profits directly to the students of Sada High School, from young to young, gives it additional meaning.” Because Émilie Roche played the intermediary and questioned to be as close as possible to local needs.

“We were asked for school materials, hygiene products and airtight boxes to protect what could be saved from the humidity of the rainy season,” explains the latter. “We are pleased to work to help the victims of Mayotte. We put our know-how at their disposal”, say Lola Bachenet and Kevin Campins, who are among the fifty students involved.

Same energy from their teachers, Éric Lamour, Étienne Thidet-Chatraix, the chefs, Frédéric Rame and Claude Beneluz. The raffle organized by La maison des lycéens will make it possible to round up the profits entirely reserved for Sada high school students.
