The smell of rotten eggs or gas, which was perceptible Friday morning, was not only detected throughout the town of Victoriaville. In Warwick too, the smell led to checks in different neighborhoods by the fire department and the Public Works Department.
“This phenomenon is not unknown. It is connected to atmospheric pressure due to the heavy and humid weather, which led to odors coming from the manholes,” indicated Mathieu Grenier, director of the Warwick Fire Protection Department, specifying that a warming the temperature will be enough to dissipate odors.
No leaks, no dangers were observed. In Victoriaville, the firefighters, led by Captain Jean-François Bécotte, received no less than five calls. “We took readings with our devices and all the calls were classified as unfounded,” said the officer.
-In the field, Énergir employees were also hard at work trying to identify the problem or a potential leak.
