Morocco: illegal homes demolished

The local authorities of the Aït Amira district, in the province of Chtouka Aït Baha, carried out the demolition of dozens of buildings built on the lands of the Soulaliyate community, in several douars in the region.

This operation, which is part of efforts to combat the proliferation of anarchic constructions in the province, particularly on collective lands and the public domain of the State, aims to protect this type of land against illegal appropriations by third parties.

The initial state was restored in the areas occupied by individuals who erected these constructions in an anarchic manner and in violation of town planning laws and texts governing collective land. Investigations are continuing to apply legal sanctions against the offenders, intermediaries and accomplices involved.

Similar operations have already been carried out in several municipalities in the province, accompanied by legal proceedings against speculators and agents involved in illegal developments, including influential people and presidents of municipalities. Furthermore, several auxiliaries of authority and elected officials involved in encouraging or tolerating anarchic constructions were also sanctioned.
