Côtes-d’Armor. This town buys an old garage to house its small market

Around 80 people, including members of the municipal council and Christian Coail, president of the departmental council, attended the greeting ceremony. Round-PestivienSaturday January 11.

On this occasion, Olivier Charles, mayorpresented to the public the project to rehabilitate the Guégan garage, in the heart of the town.

Municipal workshop and weekly market

Acquired in 2023, the former Guégan garage must be transformed into a municipal workshop, with sanitary facilities. “We wanted the building to have a dual function,” reveals Olivier Charles. “Also, in order to comfortably accommodate traders from the Friday market, especially in winter, a covered courtyard will be built in front of the garage. It will therefore be able to house the market, but also other events. »

The cost of the operation, estimated at €45,000, will be covered by the municipality for €8,870, aid from the department (€25,000 within the framework of territorial contracts) and a subsidy from the State (10 100 € for the allocation to rural facilities).

The shared house project, which should have been launched in 2024 in the town, has still not started. “A disappointment” for Olivier Charles, who admits “spending a lot of time on it. » The Soliha organization, which must ensure project management, has, for the moment, not raised enough aid to finance the project. “The context of budgetary uncertainty, at the national level, is causing, despite us, a slowdown in this investment,” regrets the mayor. Olivier Charles is waiting for “more precise figures to know the amount that will be borne by the municipality. »
