During a stop on the A36, the detainee committed “violence on one of the agents” escorting him, before “making two” others fall and fleeing.

A 36-year-old man, who had just been sentenced to eight years in prison by the Besançon Court of Appeal, escaped on Thursday while returning to the Corbas remand center, the prosecution announced on Friday from Lons-Le-Saunier.

The man, escorted by prison administration officers, had asked to “be able to go to the toilet”, which had led to a “stop at the des Potets motorway area”, on the A36 which connects Besançon to (Côte-d'Or), explained Julie Fergane, public prosecutor of Lons-Le-Saunier, in a press release.
