The national game, the little reading champions, gives a taste for reading to more than 150,000 CM1 and CM2 students around the world. In Champfleur, at the local school, eight students took part in a reading session, in front of a jury of adults.
Combining reading and pleasure
Thursday, in a school room, silence reigns. All the CM1 and CM2 students only have eyes for their eight classmates who will face a jury of adults. We made a pre-selection in class with their classmates as jury.
underlines Olivier Gogé, the director.
Seven members of the adult jury, rating form in hand, will have to select the two best performances, on the condition that there is parity.
Brigitte Zéniter, mayor, Marie-Laure Cormier, manager of the media library, Yvette Aubert, volunteer, Mr. Cavaleiro, in civic service, two parents and the director are ready to listen to budding readers.
-The eight students, in turn, must convince the jury. They have exactly three minutes to read a passage from a book they have selected. The objective is to combine reading with pleasure and to develop the spirit of camaraderie and open-mindedness in children.”
A difficult sharing
Faced with the excellent readings of the eight candidates, the jury had great difficulty in selecting two winners. Articulation, rhythm, punctuation, posture, placement of voice and body, audience capture, so many criteria, difficult to specify, as the performances were of high quality.
After very close scores, the jury selected Zoé Biget and Jules Ménochet. They will participate in the departmental final, at Le Mans. If they are selected, another challenge will await them during the regional final in Nantes. And perhaps, we hope for them, a place in the national final which will be held on June 25 at the Comédie Française in Paris. Enough to make you want to apply yourself once again.
