Late in the evening of this Wednesday January 15, 2025, flames and black smoke covered the port of Messac at Guipry-Messac (Ille-et-Vilaine). The firefighters intervened tofire of five boats. A man is always missing.

Five boats on fire in this port of Ille-et-Vilaine: a man missing

An investigation is underway. “The events occurred around 10:40 p.m. A boat caught fire following an explosion, probably gas. The fire then spread to four other boats,” says the Redon gendarmerie company.

Two boats ended up sinking.

Research in progress

Numerous firefighters and divers were mobilized on site to try to find possible victims. In fact, the owner of the first boat that caught fire is currently being sought. “We don’t yet know if there are any victims. We do not know if he was inside the boat,” explains the Redon gendarmerie company. Research will continue.
