Collision on the 955: the driver died

The collision between a vehicle and a school bus, which occurred Thursday morning on Highway 955 in Saint-Valère, left one person dead. The driver of the vehicle lost his life. His death was noted on the scene, confirmed the Sûreté du Québec.

The collision occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. at kilometer 6. The driver of the car, for a reason still unknown, apparently deviated from his lane to collide with the bus coming in the opposite direction.

Following the impact, the bus rolled onto its side. Firefighters from the Bulstrode Authority had to intervene with their extrication equipment to free the driver of the bus who was alone on board. “The lady was stuck. The position of the bus represented a challenge for us, but in about fifteen minutes, we managed to free the driver,” indicated the director of the Fire Safety Service, Stéphan Émond. Around ten firefighters were mobilized for this intervention.

The driver suffered serious injuries, specifies the SQ, but we do not know whether her life is threatened or not.

Highway 955 is completely closed to traffic in the area between rang Landry and 12e rang to allow analysis of the scene by police officers trained in collision investigation who will attempt to shed light on the causes and circumstances of the collision.
