At the time when the events took place, Louis was taking drugs regularly but since then, the situation has changed a lot. Tried in 2019, he spent six months in prison and received a three-year suspended prison sentence. However, barely out of prison, the young Hutois decides to change scenery. “I had no family here, and the only friends I had left were drug addicts or bad people. I didn’t want to fall back into that.”

Between Cap d’Agde and the mountains

Louis then decides, without warning, to leave the territory and become a seasonal worker in France. He became a chef and alternated between Cap d’Agde and the mountains to earn a salary. Problem: the Hutois did not have authorization to leave the country and his reprieve was revoked when the Belgian authorities noticed it.

In 2022, the person who has still not compensated the victims of 2018 is sentenced to an additional year of imprisonment. A conviction for which he is opposing this January 15. He was arrested on September 18, 2024 when he went to the embassy to renew his identity card.

Imprisoned for four months, Louis was once again responsible for serious events that occurred in 2018. “I completely regret what I did. At the time, I was just a little idiot and I did anything. Today I am proud of what I have become, I have a salary of €3,000 per month, I have a wife who I love more than anything and my bosses adore me. I don’t want to lose everything I have rebuilt.”

The prosecution requested confirmation of the three-year prison sentence with an additional year handed down in 2022.

The defendant’s lawyer, for his part, asked that the sentence of his client not be aggravated, who is ready to stay in Belgium, find work and take up residence there for as long as it takes so that everything is resolved and he can return to France to continue his redemption.
