Bristol, by Jean Echenoz: neighborhood troubles

Welcome to Jean Echenoz, welcome to a world of adventures, twists and turns, providential coincidences, lame correspondences, jokes and pranks, extravagances. Welcome to Robert Bristol, resident of rue des Eaux, in 16^e Parisian district, and protagonist of this new novel which will delight good readers and disappoint the piss-poor. As was the case for his previous one, published five years ago, where Echenoz, at the height of his art, featured a certain Gérard Fulmard, also a citizen of the 16^e and potential distant cousin of this Bristol.

A poorly inspired filmmaker and probably in his fifties, this gray character, without psychological depth, will experience adventures and disappointments, from his Parisian building, from which a neighbor throws himself out of the window, to Botswana, via Burgundy, Nantes, Limoges and Arcachon .
