The Val-d'Oise department plans to accommodate one hundred unaccompanied minors in a hotel at Croix-Verte, near Baillet-en-France. This decision, taken without consultation with the town hall, arouses indignation among residents and surrounding communities.
A decision imposed without consultation
The inhabitants of Baillet-en-France learned, at the end of 2024, that the Val-d'Oise departmental council was going to install 100 isolated foreign “miners” in a hotel at Croix-Verte, a strategic crossroads close to the common.
Strong municipal opposition
The town hall of Baillet-en-France quickly expressed its disagreement, deeming this decision incompatible with local infrastructure and the living environment of the village.
A five-year experiment
Accommodation of minors is authorized on an experimental basis for five years, with a possible extension depending on the results.
Mobilization of neighboring municipalities
The municipalities of Maffliers, Montsoult, and Chaumontel have launched petitions to have this decision annulled. An online petition has already collected more than 2,000 signatures.
