Samuel Le Bihan in the footsteps of pirates, from Sainte-Marie Island to

Sainte-Marie Island stands out for its efforts to protect its ecosystem. Hoteliers have already adopted eco-responsible practices, in particular by reducing the use of plastic. A total ban on these polluting materials could soon come into force, thus strengthening the image of the island as an exemplary destination in terms of sustainable development.

Passionate about history, Samuel Le Bihan took advantage of his stay to explore the remains of the island linked to piracy. Among the highlights of his visit, a dive to encounter the wreck of the Serapis, a Royal Navy ship, sunk in 1781, and an excursion to Île aux Forbans, once the lair of the famous pirate Olivier Levasseur, known as ” The Buzzard”. Berthy Ramdoo, president of the Tourist Office, highlighted the historical links between Sainte-Marie Island and Island, two territories rich in maritime traditions.
