“In 32 years of activities organized for Télévie, the City had never paid me anything, aware of the importance of such events in supporting cancer research, notes Martine Allard. I am a volunteer, and therefore all the profits collected during the year are donated to the FNRS, and then the coffers are empty… until the following activities. In more than thirty years, I have already raised more than 1,600,000 euros for Télévie! And it saddens me to see that €260 will go into the City’s coffers, rather than those of the FNRS! Not to mention the 30 euros that I was asked for, for the first time, for the management of the file by the Municipal College and which I was asked to pay quickly otherwise my file would not be taken into account… “
Until this year, Martine Allard benefited from free access to the community hall due to the charitable purpose of her event (a meal until 2020 and now a walk); a gesture of solidarity from previous municipal representatives. But, a new municipal college has taken office… and seems to have revised its policy relating to the rental of municipal buildings, in particular guided by the Oxygène plan. Mayor Marie-Christine Marghem has not yet wished to comment on the matter, pending a meeting scheduled for this Wednesday afternoon with Martine Allard.
“It’s unfortunate that the new community college has no heart…”adds the volunteer who fears the impact of this measure on the benefits of the march organized on Sunday February 2 in Maulde. “Walkers pay a participation fee of €3, which includes a packet of Télévie candy, specifies Martine Allard. This registration fee must be paid in full to Télévie. The other profits come from the bar and the small restaurant… This will make croques and tarts having to be sold to reach almost 300 euros! And it’s not two weeks before the event that I can try to find another place…”
