The President of the National Assembly, Mr. El Malick Ndiaye, received, this Monday, January 13, the Ambassador of the United States to Senegal, Mr. Michael Raynor, at the head of a large delegation.
During this meeting, Ambassador Raynor congratulated Mr. Ndiaye on his election to the presidency of the National Assembly. He also underlined the crucial importance of parliamentary cooperation and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to actively supporting Senegalese parliamentarians in the exercise of their missions.
In his speech, the President of the National Assembly first presented his condolences following the death of the former President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. He also expressed, on behalf of all the deputies representing the Senegalese people, his deep compassion for the victims of the devastating fire currently raging in Los Angeles.
The President then praised the exceptional quality of bilateral relations between the United States and Senegal. He highlighted the constant support of the United States and reaffirmed the desire of the Senegalese Parliament to strengthen partnerships with American institutions, particularly around the principles of good governance, transparency and strengthening institutional capacities.
The two parties reaffirmed their common commitment to developing strategic projects and promoting the fundamental values of democracy, transparency and good governance, within the framework of reinforced parliamentary diplomacy, informs the Assembly page.
