The Municipality of Laténa comes to life in the public space. The sign at the entrance to Marin was replaced this Monday. This step has symbolic importance for Laurent Amez-Droz, municipal councilor in charge of infrastructure.
In total, 59 old signs are swapped for new ones, at the entrance and exit of the villages which have merged, namely La Tène, St-Blaise, Enges and Hauterive. It’s a job that requires “meticulousness and care,” explains the municipal councilor. Indeed, “we must not make spelling mistakes in names, but we must not forget signs either,” he adds. The operation cost around 12,000 francs. Aurélien Karg, the head of the infrastructure department, indicates that around 40 signs have already been changed. The Commune has set itself the objective of having everything in place by January 23, the date of Laténa’péro, an aperitif to which the population is invited. Thielle will be an exception, since work to move into the 30 km/h zone is underway in the village. These should be completed in the spring.
It took time to identify all the panels to be modified, but also to precisely measure the iron frames, which do not have the same format everywhere. You must also take into account the color of the signs which differs depending on the roads, and respect it. For example, the blue signs are placed on cantonal roads, the white ones at the entrance to villages and the brown ones are for localities, such as Voëns, Le Maley or Lordel.
-The old panels will be kept carefully as souvenirs. They will be stored in a depot in Marin. On the other hand, those removed during the merger between Marin-Epagnier and Thielle-Wavre, which gave birth to La Tène in 2009, have not yet been found. Note that the term “La Tène” will only be used to designate the tourist site and the prehistoric archaeological site. /cob
