New Delhi: A Moroccan teacher wins an international prize at the Global Teacher Awards – Consonews

In New Delhi, Moroccan teacher Messaoud Ariba was celebrated at the prestigious Global Teacher Awards 2024, organized by AKS Education, an entity specializing in educational research. Originally from Taroudant, this passionate teacher became the only representative of the Arab world and North Africa to obtain this honorary title, a global recognition which recognizes his dedication of more than 25 years.

Mr. Ariba, teacher at the Ibnou Aachir school group, impressed the jury among thousands of candidates from the four corners of the planet. Its innovative project, called « Math Kids » transformed the learning of mathematics by using theater to make this often feared discipline accessible and fun for young students. Thanks to this method, children understand mathematical concepts as an engaging game, far from the intimidating image that is sometimes associated with them.

“Since 1998, my goal has been to improve learning, particularly in mathematics, by adopting a fun approach that brings students closer to this subject,” said Mr. Ariba. He also specified that his program includes plays lasting 45 minutes, designed for two school levels, enriching not only mathematics but also the subject of “Scientific Activity”.

For Mr. Ariba, school theater goes well beyond entertainment: it is a powerful educational lever that stimulates students’ skills while strengthening their appetite for learning. “With ‘Math Kids’, we transform what was perceived as a constraint into a moment of pleasure, where the child becomes an actor in his own learning,” he underlined.

This distinction, which he describes as the culmination of several decades of hard work, also honors the entire Moroccan teaching staff, often driving innovation in a constantly evolving educational context.

The Global Teacher Awards, which spotlight remarkable teachers from around the world, recognize not only excellence in teaching, but also the profound impact educators have on the communities they serve. For Messaoud Ariba, this award is not an end in itself, but an encouragement to continue to inspire and shape future generations.
