Moroccan teacher Messaoud Ariba was awarded an award on Saturday in the Indian capital New Delhi during the 2024 edition of the Global Teacher Awards, an annual event celebrating educational excellence on an international scale.
A teacher at the Ibnou Aachir school group, reporting to the Provincial Directorate of Taroudant, Mr. Ariba is the only representative of the Arab world and North Africa to be among the winners of this edition.
He stood out among thousands of applications from all over the world during this event initiated by “AKS Education”, an education research company based in India.
In a statement, Mr. Ariba said he was honored and happy with this distinction, the result of 25 years of work and commitment to education.
This recognition, he considered, is a deserved tribute to the remarkable efforts of the men and women working to develop the education sector in the Kingdom.
“Since 1998, I have dedicated myself to improving learning, particularly in mathematics, through a fun approach that brings the concepts of this discipline closer to children,” he declared, specifying that his “Math Kids” project, awarded at this event, transforms the teaching of mathematics at primary level into plays, thus facilitating learning through play.
“We know that many children often perceive mathematics as intimidating, even frightening,” he explained.
“With “Math Kids,” mathematics becomes a game rather than a “monster.” Through drama activities, mathematical concepts are presented in an accessible and fun way,” he added.
In addition to mathematics, Mr. Ariba adapted the subject of “Scientific Activity” from the primary cycle into three plays, each lasting 45 minutes and designed for two school levels.
And to affirm that school theater, much more than simple entertainment, is a powerful educational tool, capable of stimulating learning and strengthening students’ skills.
The Global Teacher Awards aim to celebrate teachers who stand out for their excellence in teaching across all disciplines, as well as their outstanding contributions to students and the community, including beyond the classroom, according to AKS Education.
These awards highlight exceptional educators from all regions and communities around the world, while promoting their essential role in building a more united society and their inspiring impact on future generations.
