Marrakech welcomes a new police training school

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has inaugurated a new infrastructure dedicated to police training: the Marrakech Peacekeepers Training School.

This inauguration took place on the occasion of the commemoration of the presentation of the Independence Manifesto.

According to Al Ahdath Al Maghribia this Monday, January 13, this school “aims mainly to strengthen the police training system and increase the reception capacity of existing structures».

The establishment will offer basic training programs, intended for new promotions of trainees enrolled in the peace guard cycle.

Spanning an area of ​​7,826 square meters, the building can accommodate up to 500 trainees throughout their basic training, and will contribute to the enrichment and strengthening of continuing education programs.

According to the daily, the inauguration of this establishment “is part of the implementation of the structuring projects recently announced by the DGSN in its annual program, and which concern in particular the rehabilitation and development of police structures, through, among other things, the strengthening of police training infrastructures and the support for regional centers of security training schools».

Al Ahdath Al Maghribia states that “the DGSN places a significant interest in training, which has resulted since 2016 in the launch of an ambitious project to develop the police training system”, which, according to the daily, is considered “as the key element of a comprehensive and profound reform of the security function. This reform involves, in addition to the creation of new schools ensuring better geographical coverage, the revision of both the recruitment charter and training methods.».

With the inauguration of this new training school for peace guards, the DGSN now has training establishments in different cities of the Kingdom, namely Marrakech, Kénitra, Laâyoune, Oujda, Fez, Tangier, Marrakech, Bouknadel and Fouarat .

Ifrane, adds the daily, should also soon welcome a higher police training center, which will “the ambition to be a true hub of international and African security cooperation in the field of police training».

The daily relays the fact that the director of the DGSN-DGST pole, Abdellatif Hammouchi, visited the premises of the new establishment in Marrakech before its official inauguration, for a “inspection visit” in order to “find out about the latest preparations and the arrangements made to welcome the first class of new peacekeeper trainees».

The director of the DGSN-DGST cluster also visited the various facilities of the new school, and attended a “explanatory presentation from the director of human resources on educational training methods, police training programs as well as the short, medium and long term objectives of the new establishment».

According to Al Ahdath Al MaghribiaAbdellatif Hammouchi, during this visit, insisted on all “the importance and necessity of developing training programs and harmonizing them with the new philosophy of security action, based on citizen service and improving security services».

The director of the DGSN-DGST cluster called for “give particular importance to new trainees, ensuring that they consolidate their knowledge and appropriate the culture of human rights”, while protecting them against “any inappropriate or suspicious conduct, in order to enable them to optimally fulfill their noble duties in terms of preserving security, protecting property and establishing a climate favorable to the exercise of rights and freedoms».
